Lucknow, Aug. 6 -- The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) on Tuesday transferred the chief engineer of Ghaziabad with immediate effect for inordinate delay in providing a 40 kW power connection and failure to restore power disruptions promptly. The decision was taken following a consumer complaint received by UPPCL chairman Ashish Kumar Goel. The complainant had alleged that despite applying for a 40 kW connection on April 30, 2025, and paying the full amount of Rs 27,615, the connection was not provided even after four months. Additionally, a power fault that occurred during the night of July 24-25 at the Lal Kuan power substation was not resolved for two days, severely affecting electricity supply and causing hardship to consumers. "Taking serious note of both incidents, Goel found supervisory negligence on the part of the chief engineer and directed his transfer on administrative grounds. The officer has now been relieved from his Ghaziabad posting and attached to UPPCL headquarters," a UPPCL spokesman said, adding "Instructions have also been issued to take disciplinary action against other officials and personnel responsible for lapses."...
