Bahraich, Feb. 16 -- The superintendent of the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Motipur block of Bahraich has been removed from his post following protests by ANMs and ASHA workers, who accused him of misbehaviour, harassment, and illegal monetary demands. District magistrate Akshay Tripathi has also constituted a three-member committee to investigate the allegations. The protest unfolded late Saturday night when ANMs and ASHA workers from Motipur block gathered at the district headquarters and staged a demonstration against the CHC superintendent Dr Thanedar. The protesting health workers alleged that he frequently misbehaved with them, created a hostile work environment, and demanded money illegally. The aggrieved workers submitted a memorandum addressed to the district magistrate through the Tehsildar, seeking strict action against the official. On receiving information about the protest, the chief medical superintendent and the tehsildar reached the spot and held discussions with the demonstrators. Considering the seriousness of the allegations, the DM has ordered a formal investigation and constituted a three-member probe committee. The panel will be headed by additional district magistrate Amit Kumar and includes district program officer Niharika Vishwakarma and additional chief medical officer Rajesh Kumar Gautam as members. The committee has been directed to conduct a thorough inquiry and submit its report within seven days, based on which further administrative action will be taken.
