LUCKNOW, July 13 -- Though authorities managed to drive the huge swarm of locusts out of Lucknow borders, it is feared the foreign pest may settle down in some eastern UP districts on Sunday night. "The swarm that attacked Lucknow was successfully chased away and it flew towards Gonda. It may settle down around there in the night. Our teams are alert to start operations as soon as the swarm descends there," additional chief secretary, agriculture, Devesh Chaturvedi said. He claimed the locusts did not cause harm in Lucknow because they were not allowed to stay and settle and with the north-easterly winds they flew towards Gonda and Ayodhya via Barabanki. "Since locusts have a tendency to stay at a place in the night, it would have been a problem had they arrived here in the evening instead of the day," he said.
