LUCKNOW, Sept. 25 -- Rajya Sabha MP and BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi on Wednesday said recent revisions in GST rates have eased the financial burden on the common man, reducing taxes on essential items, including food, clothing, and housing. Addressing the media here at the BJP headquarters, Trivedi said, "The tax on food items has been increased from zero to five per cent. GST on clothing has also been lowered, while cement, previously taxed at 31%, is now at 18%." He added that the relief reached the general public just in time for Navratri.
