Chandrashekhar Azad offers prayers, vows to fight for 'Begumpura Raj', Dalit rights
VARANASI, Feb. 2 -- National president of the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshiram) and MP Chandrashekhar Azad on Sunday offered prayers to Sant Guru Ravidas at the Sant Ravidas temple in Sirgovardhanpur, marking the birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas, which is celebrated as Prakash Parva. After offering prayers, he took prasad at the langar (community meal).
Addressing a large number of supporters, Azad said that Sant Ravidas's dream would surely be fulfilled. He stated that the "Begumpura Raj" (a concept by saint-poet Bhagat Ravidas envisioning an egalitarian, casteless society free from oppression, hunger, and fear) and an equitable society would soon be established throughout the country, ensuring happiness for everyone from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
Referring to the teachings of Sant Ravidas, Azad noted that the saint had given the message of equality and social justice, but alleged that today, attempts are being made by the government to suppress that very ideology. He affirmed that his party would continue to raise the voice of the Dalit, backward and deprived communities from the streets to the Parliament.
