CEO orders help desks for voter roll drive
LUCKNOW, Nov. 18 -- Uttar Pradesh chief electoral officer (CEO) Navdeep Rinwa on Monday directed district election officers (DEOs) to set up help desks in their offices and Electoral Registration Offices to assist voters during the Special Inten- sive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
In a virtual meeting with all DEOs, Rinwa said experienced staff must be posted at these desks and asked districts to train NSS, NCC and NGO volunteers to help voters fill enumeration forms.
He instructed BLOs to assist voters and ensure filled forms are collected and digitised promptly through the updated BLO app (version 8.73).
Districts showing slow progress were told to launch special campaigns to speed up collection and digitisation. Voters can also fill forms online via voters.eci.gov.in using their registered mobile numbers, and district election officers were asked to run aware- ness drives across media platforms.
Rinwa warned that negligence during SIR will invite strict action and urged poli- tical parties and voters to cooperate....
