New Delhi, Sept. 23 -- The ministry of home affairs (MHA) has extended the ban on National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) along with all its factions, wings and front organisations under the anti-terror law for five more years, according to a notification issued on Monday. "The central government is of the opinion that the NSCN (K) has declared its aim to create a sovereign Nagaland incorporating the Naga inhabited areas of the Indo-Myanmar region by secession from the Indian Union and aligned itself with other unlawful associations like the ULFA(I), PREPAK and PLA," the MHA's notification on the ban's extension said. The Naga insurgent group was first banned by the Centre in 2015. NSCN (K)'s chief SS Khaplang, a Myanmarese Naga, died in 2017 after leading the group for decades.
