Haridwar, Oct. 27 -- The Central government has approved the reconstruction of the damaged Maa Mansa Devi hill path to prevent erosion and ensure the safety of pilgrims, officials aware of the development said, adding that the approval follows the special efforts of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Officials added that the decision was taken during the 85th meeting of the National Wildlife Board, which granted permission to carry out repair and reconstruction work within the Rajaji National Park Reserve Forest area. The project aims to restore portions of the Mansa Devi walking path that were damaged due to heavy rains and landslides earlier this year. District magistrate (DM) Mayur Dixit said the Irrigation Department has been appointed as the executing agency and has been directed to ensure timely and high-quality completion of the project. "Mansa Devi is the identity of Haridwar. Protecting the Maa Mansa Devi area and ensuring a smooth and safe journey for pilgrims is the administration's priority," he said. According to officials, the Centre has sanctioned Rs.156.48 lakh for the reconstruction of the path and hill treatment work. The project includes stabilising the slopes as well as reinforcing the damaged portions of the footpath to prevent further erosion. Officials said that once completed, the work will provide devotees with a safe, stable, and uninterrupted route to the revered Mansa Devi shrine, one of Haridwar's most prominent religious destinations....
