Dehradun, Sept. 10 -- An inter-ministerial central team (IMCT) of the Union government on Tuesday carried out an inspection of disaster-affected areas in Pauri Garhwal, Rudraprayag and Nainital districts. In Rudraprayag, the central team conducted a survey in Taljaman, Uchhola, Syur Bangar, Chhenagarh, Taljaman, Bagartok, Jaula, Dungar and Bhatwadi to assess the extent of damage caused by the disasters and reviewed the relief and rehabilitation measures being undertaken by the state government. The team, led by Union joint secretary Dr R Prasanna, reached Augustmuni helipad late on Monday evening, where they were received by district magistrate (DM) Prateek Jain. At the district headquarters, the DM gave a detailed presentation on the loss of life and damage to public and private assets during the disaster. On Tuesday morning, the team travelled by road to Bareth village and inspected the affected areas. They interacted with the residents, district officials to gather first-hand information on the damage and ongoing restoration work. Villagers informed the team about losses to houses, crops, businesses and other assets. They also demanded construction of a helipad, rehabilitation, geological surveys, employment, resettlement, compensation, and better healthcare facilities. The team conducted an aerial survey of Chhainagad, Taljaman, Bagartok, Jaula, Dungar Bhatwadi, Syur and other affected villages to assess damage to infrastructure, livestock and livelihoods....
