Census 2027 to have need-based training
New Delhi, July 8 -- Census 2027, which is set to begin from April 1 next year, will have focused and need based training in each phase, the official X handle of the office of registrar general of India (ORGI) said on Monday. For the training, ORGI said, "there will be a three tier training structure: National Trainer, Master Trainer and Field Trainer".
The field trainers will impart training to approximately 3.4 million enumerators and supervisors, who will conduct the exercise on the ground in two phases. The 16th Census will be conducted in two phases.
The ORGI also said on Monday on X that Census 2027 will also have a "focused publicity campaign for nationwide awareness, inclusive participation, last-mile engagement and support for field operations". "It'll emphasize on sharing accurate, authentic and timely information ensuring cohesive and effective outreach effort," it added.
On other preparatory activities already done, officials who didn't want to be named said that all the states have already constituted Census Coordination Committees (CCCs) under the respective chief secretaries. "As the Census exercise was originally to take place in 2020, ORGI had already written to states/UTs for forming CCCs in April 2019," said an officer, adding that the committees have various departments like revenue, municipal corporations, rural development and panchayats, planning education, etc for conducting and monitoring different phases of Census.
