Celebratory gunfire turns fatal, 29-year-old dies
Agra, Jan. 1 -- A man was killed on Wednesday after being hit by a gunshot during a function organised to celebrate the birth of a son at a house in Paroli Sikarwar village, under the Fatehabad police station limits in Agra district.
Police reached the village soon after the incident but were awaiting a formal complaint at the time of filing this report.
According to police, a small celebration was organised to mark the birth of the son to Vivek Kumar. While sweets were being distributed, another villager, Subhash, arrived at the spot carrying a gun. As he was loading it, the firearm accidentally went off, striking 29-year-old Ajay Katheria, who was standing nearby.
"The injured man was rushed for treatment but succumbed to his injuries. The matter is being investigated and evidence is being collected. The aggrieved family is yet to submit a complaint, based on which a case will be registered," said Tarun Dhiman, in-charge of Fatehabad police station, on Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, some family members of the deceased have alleged that the incident was a planned murder rather than a case of celebratory firing....
