CCTV, medical camps and tents:Full-scale prep for Shiva devotees
Meerut, July 14 -- With the Kanwar Yatra underway and Sawan's showers intensifying, the police and district administration have ramped up arrangements to ensure the safety and comfort of Shiva devotees. From installing waterproof tents and deploying CCTV cameras to setting up over a thousand community food stalls (bhandaras), authorities are leaving no stone unturned to facilitate a peaceful and smooth pilgrimage.
To shield Kanwariyas from rain during their journey, the police have erected waterproof tents at nine strategic locations along the main Kanwar routes - Kanth Road, Delhi Road, and Rampur Road. Recognizing this, officials conducted prior meetings with Kanwar groups to identify issues and are now actively working on resolutions.
The nine locations where waterproof tents have been installed include Sherua Chauraha, Qila Tiraha, Fawwara Chowk, Zero Point in the Majhola area, the CNG pump in Pakbara, the Roadways Police Outpost, Kohinoor Tiraha, and Dalpatpur Zero Point. In parallel, surveillance has been tightened. HD CCTV cameras have been installed across all major routes and linked to both local and city-level control rooms. This real-time monitoring is helping police maintain law and order and provide immediate response where needed.
More than 1,000 bhandaras are being organized across the city by various social and religious organizations. These stalls will serve free meals, snacks, and refreshments to the Kanwariyas. Medical camps are also being established alongside to offer emergency health services.
Sharad Jain, General Secretary of Shri Mahadev Seva Samiti, revealed that his organization has been serving Kanwariyas for 22 years and will again create a magnificent Shiva Lingam out of 300 blocks of ice near the red carpet area - a visual and spiritual treat for devotees.
Meanwhile, rising concerns over leopard sightings in the Chajlait and Kanth regions have prompted police and forest officials to go on high alert....
