CBI court sentences ex-school principal to four years in prison
LUCKNOW, Dec. 14 -- A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Lucknow on Friday has sentenced a former Kendriya Vidyalaya principal to four years' rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs.1 lakh in a bribery case, CBI officials said in a press note shared with media on Saturday.
The officials informed that the court convicted Tasudduque Khan, the then principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya-I at the Air Force Station, Chakeri, Kanpur, after finding him guilty of demanding and accepting illegal gratification.
The CBI had registered the case on August 24, 2016, following a complaint by the proprietor of a Kanpur-based private company.
According to the CBI, the accused had demanded an undue advantage of Rs.51,000 and agreed to accept Rs.25,000 as a bribe.
The demand was allegedly made as a motive or reward in connection with clearing payments of Rs.1,73,430 already due to the complainant and for allowing the school canteen to operate smoothly in the future.
After completing the investigation, the CBI filed a chargesheet against the accused on September 30, 2016. Following a full trial, the court held the former principal guilty and awarded the sentence....
