LUCKNOW, May 4 -- A special court of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Lucknow on Saturday convicted an accused in the 2015 killing of a police inspector in Pratapgarh and sentenced him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs.9,000, CBI officials said in a press note issued on Sunday. The court, presided over by the Special Judge, CBI, delivered its judgment on May 2, holding Zeeshan Khan guilty of the culpable homicide of Inspector Anil Kumar, who was then the station house officer (SHO) of Kotwali police station. The incident dates back to November 19, 2015, when the officer was killed at a model shop inside Hotel Vaishnavi in Pratapgarh. The case was initially registered at Kotwali City police station under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code against unknown persons.
