LUCKNOW, July 9 -- Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday arrested the key operative and partner of FirstIdea as part of its ongoing crackdown on a transnational cybercrime syndicate running a sophisticated tech support scam targeting citizens of the United Kingdom and Australia in Gautam Buddha Nagar (Noida), confirmed CBI officials on Tuesday. They added that the accused was being produced before the Special CBI Court in Ghaziabad the same day. In a press note shared with the media, officials stated that the CBI conducted searches at three locations in Noida on Monday, including a fully operational fraudulent call centre located within the Noida Special Economic Zone, as part of its ongoing Operation Chakra-V. "Acting on credible intelligence, the CBI registered the case to investigate the syndicate, which posed as technical support staff of reputed multinational companies, including Microsoft," explained a senior CBI official.
