Cattle smuggler arrested after police encounter in Prayagraj
Prayagraj, Nov. 2 -- Police arrested an inter-district cattle smuggler after a late-night encounter in the Koraon area of Prayagraj on Friday. The accused, Tamseel, a resident of Kemri village under Shahabad police station in Rampur district, was shot in the right leg during the exchange of fire.
Police said they recovered an illegal country-made pistol, one live cartridge, and one used cartridge from his possession. The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment. Further legal action is in progress, said DCP (Trans Yamuna) Vivek Chandra Yadav. The encounter took place near the Pathartal canal bridge when the Koraon police, led by SHO Rakesh Kumar Verma, were checking vehicles and suspects late at night.
