PRAYAGRAJ, June 20 -- During a surprise inspection in Naini Central Jail on Wednesday, Rs 1,100 cash was found with Atiq Ahmed's son Ali in his high security barrack. As per reports, a visitor who had come to meet Ali three days ago had given him Rs 1,100. When DIG Rajesh Srivastava inspected on the instructions of DG Jail PC Meena, the matter came to light. DIG Jail suspended deputy jailer Kanti Devi and warder Sanjay Dwivedi on charges of negligence.According to sources, deputy jailer Kanti Devi was transferred from Bareilly jail to Naini jail only six months ago. She is set to retire on June 30. Atiq Ahmed's son Ali has been lodged in the high security cell of Naini Jail since July 30, 2022. The police had recently declared Ali as the gang leader of Atiq's Gang IS-227. According to the jail administration, on June 16, a visitor (advocate) came to meet Ali in jail. Control room in-charge head warder Sanjay Dwivedi had checked the visitor's belongings. Despite this, the visitor handed over Rs 1,100 to Ali. The entire incident was visible on CCTV from Lucknow headquarters. DG, jail PC Meena directed DIG Rajesh Meena to investigate the matter and submit a report. On June 17, DIG Rajesh Srivastava inspected Ali's barrack, and Rs 1,100 cash was recovered from him. According to rules of jail administration, prisoners are prohibited from keeping cash. They are given coupons in place of money. With the coupon, you can buy tea, snacks and other items from the jail canteen. But, Ali did not take the token in exchange for money. He kept the cash Rs 1100 with himself. Ali is seen counting the money in CCTV camera. As per DIG Jail, Rajesh Srivastava, a departmental inquiry is being conducted into the entire matter.
