Cases filed over misleading Holi videos
Agra, March 2 -- A case has been registered at Barsana police station in Mathura against several social media account holders and influencers for allegedly circulating edited videos from previous years while falsely claiming incidents of misbehaviour with women devotees during this year's Holi celebrations in Mathura and Vrindavan.
Superintendent of police (Mathura Rural) Suresh Chandra Rawat said Rangotsav 2026 began on February 24 and is being celebrated by lakhs of devotees, including women, without any such complaints reported this year. He said the misleading posts created a false narrative and hurt local sentiments.
Police have invoked relevant sections of the BNS and IT Act and warned of strict action. Extensive security arrangements, including CCTV surveillance and Anti-Romeo squads, have been deployed.
