Caretaker arrested for govt teacher's murder
Rudrapur, Nov. 2 -- A 58-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murdering a government teacher in a colony of Rudrapur in Udham Singh Nagar district, police said on Saturday, adding that the man was living in her house as a caretaker for the last 14-15 years.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP), US Nagar, Manikant Mishra said, "Police have arrested a man on Saturday in connection with the suspicious death of a teacher. Her charred body was found in her house on Tuesday."
The deceased, Sushma Pant (52) used to live in phase-2 of Kaushaliya enclave colony on Gangapur road in Rudrapur. She was posted as a teacher in the government primary school of Siroli Kalan village under Kichha police station. Her charred body was found on Tuesday from her house.
Police took Ajay Shankar Mishra, a resident of Azamgarh district in Uttar Pradesh. Mishra runs a Dhaba on Fulsunga road in Rudrapur itself. On Thursday, Surendra Pal, president of Kaushaliya enclave colony handed a complaint to the police.
He alleged that Sushma visited his house and alleged that Mishra has been harassing and beating her and forcing her to consume prohibited tablets. She feared life threat from Mishra and house maid Vimla was also involved in Mishra's crime.
Police lodged an FIR against Ajay and Vimla under BNS section 108 (abetment of suicide). The accused was arrested on Saturday from Kaushaliya enclave itself and police produced him in the court from there he was sent to jail, said SSP. "Police are investigating the involvement of the maid Vimla in the crime. Action will be taken against her accordingly," he added....
