Haldwani, May 11 -- Carcass of an eight-year-old tigress was found in the Jhirna range of Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR) in Nainital district on Saturday, a forest official said, adding that she died likely due to infighting with another big cat. "On Saturday morning around 9:40 am, forest patrolling staff discovered the carcass along a fire line in the Laldhang beat of the Jhirna range," Dr Dushyant Sharma, senior veterinarian at CTR, said. "Injury marks were visible on the tigress's body, and the bones in her chest were broken. It appears that she likely died due to infighting with another big cat. However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report is received," he said. He further said, "The tigress was around eight years old. All body parts were intact. A post-mortem was conducted, and the body was cremated in accordance with NTCA (National Tiger Conservation Authority) guidelines. Viscera samples have been collected and will be sent to a laboratory for further testing."...
