Lucknow, Dec. 23 -- Three persons were killed and seven others seriously injured after a speeding car rammed into a stationary truck from behind on the Purvanchal Expressway near Darpipur village under Jayasinghpur police limits in Sultanpur district on Monday. The accident occurred around 9 am amid dense fog on the expressway. Police said the car was travelling from Lucknow to Azamgarh. The impact was so severe that the car was completely mangled. The deceased were identified as Sikandar (27), the driver, and Shambhulal (55), both residents of Tevkhad, Saraimir in Azamgarh district, and Surendra (30) of Gudiyaawa village in Azamgarh. Seven others, including Surendra's wife Khushboo (27), their six-year-old daughter Sanaya, Shambhulal's wife Meena Devi (35), son Kohinoor (16), daughters Ujala (24) and Kumari Roshni (15), and youngest son Ansh (12), sustained serious injuries. All the injured were initially taken to Dostpur Community Health Centre and later referred to the district hospital in Ambedkar Nagar. A UPIDA official, Ram Jagat Tiwari, said preliminary investigation pointed to driver negligence. Jayasinghpur station house officer Pramod Mishra said the bodies had been sent for post-mortem examination and further legal action would be initiated upon receipt of a complaint. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday took cognisance of the fatal road accident on the Purvanchal Expressway in Sultanpur district and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased....
