Lucknow, Dec. 23 -- Three persons were killed and seven others seriously injured after a speeding car rammed into a stationary truck from behind on the Purvanchal Expressway near Darpipur village under Jayasinghpur police limits in Sultanpur district on Monday. The accident occurred around 9 am amid dense fog on the expressway. Police said the car was travelling from Lucknow to Azamgarh. The deceased were identified as Sikandar (27), the driver, and Shambhulal (55), both residents of Tevkhad, Saraimir in Azamgarh district, and Surendra (30) of Gudiyaawa village in Azamgarh. Seven others, including Surendra's wife Khushboo (27), their six-year-old daughter Sanaya, Shambhulal's wife Meena Devi (35), son Kohinoor (16), daughters Ujala (24) and Kumari Roshni (15), and youngest son Ansh (12), sustained serious injuries. All the injured were initially taken to Dostpur Community Health Centre and later referred to the district hospital in Ambedkar Nagar .Jayasinghpur station house officer Pramod Mishra said the bodies had been sent for post-mortem examination.
