Lucknow, Dec. 27 -- Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute and Hospital here on Friday said it now had the state's first government-owned Digital PET-CT scanner, a facility that till now was limited to private hospitals. Costing around Rs 25 crore, the cutting-edge scanner uses digital detector technology that delivers sharper images, higher sensitivity and more precise results than conventional PET-CT machines. Doctors said this advancement would significantly strengthen early cancer detection, accurate staging and monitoring of treatment response. Institute director Professor MLB Bhatt said the scanner would be a game changer for cancer management in the region. "This technology allows us to see the metabolic activity of tumours with greater clarity. It will directly impact treatment planning for cancers of the brain, lung, breast, head and neck, as well as lymphoma, enabling more personalised and effective care," he said.
