Dehradun, Dec. 18 -- The state government on Wednesday launched a 45-day statewide outreach campaign to ensure that every eligible citizen in every gram panchayat is covered under welfare schemes run by 23 departments, Chief secretary Anand Bardhan said all districts were directed to prepare rosters and organise multi-purpose camps at the gram panchayat level to extend the benefits of various state and central government schemes to eligible beneficiaries. "Each district may finalise its roster based on the number of gram panchayats under its jurisdiction," he said. He added that districts with a larger number of gram panchayat will continue the campaign until all residents are covered. Considering the availability of officers, Bardhan said that camps should be organised in each gram panchayat for two to three working days every week in every tehsil. Bardhan said it would be mandatory to publicise the camps in the concerned Gram Panchayats so that beneficiaries can prepare the required documents in advance. "Social media platforms should also be used to inform people about the dates on which camps will be organised in their respective gram panchayats ," he added. The chief secretary further instructed officials to visit nearby villages after the camps to assist eligible residents in filling out application forms for various schemes. " According to Bardhan, the camps will provide services related to schemes of 23 departments, including social welfare pension schemes, issuance of certificates, and registration under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGA). He added that the State and District Level Bankers' Committees will also participate in the camps. To ensure effective implementation, Bardhan directed in-charge secretaries to conduct surprise inspections of the camps in districts under their charge. He also instructed that public grievances raised during the camps be addressed on the spot and emphasised the need for continuous monitoring. Weekly progress reports of the camps will be submitted to the chief minister's office, the chief secretary's office and the general administration department, he said....
