LUCKNOW, Dec. 12 -- A cafe owner in Lucknow's Madeyganj lost Rs.1 lakh after cyber fraudsters "digitally arrested" for nearly two hours by posing as police officials and accusing him of being linked to a parcel containing drugs. Javed Iqbal, who runs Globe Us Cafe near the Khadra police station, said he was at his shop on the evening of December 8 when he received a WhatsApp call from an unknown number around 5.30 pm. The caller introduced himself as an officer from an investigative agency and claimed that a parcel in Javed's name had been found with narcotics. Startled by the allegation, Javed stepped out of the cafe to continue the conversation. For nearly two hours, the fraudster kept him under 'digital arrest'. During this time, the caller claimed that money in Javed's bank account could be treated as proceeds of crime and forced him to transfer Rs.1 lakh in two instalments as part of the supposed investigation.htc...
