LUCKNOW, Dec. 3 -- Residents in 33 wards of Kanpur will soon receive improved drinking water as the cabinet on Tuesday approved a Rs 316 crore expansion of East and South service district pipelines under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme. The project aims to address long-standing issues of contaminated and irregular water supply. With this upgrade, one-third of the district's 56 lakh population will benefit. Previous works between 2007 and 2012 failed to keep pace with population growth.
