Burglary at Yemeni national's house leads to auto theft racket bust, 4 held
Lucknow, Dec. 5 -- A joint team of East Zone Crime, surveillance unit, and Indira Nagar police here arrested four men on Thursday who allegedly targeted locked homes after monitoring autorickshaw routes.
The probe began following a complaint by Yemeni national Abdulaziz Ahmed Mohammed, a Lucknow University PhD student, whose Sector 10 residence was burgled on October 13, with valuables including a laptop, mobile phone, documents, and cash stolen.
DCP East Shashank Singh said the team analysed CCTV footage and questioned suspects before acting on a specific tip-off. Around 9:25 pm near Mahi in Indira Nagar, the accused, Vikas Nigam, Neeraj Verma, Mohit Awasthi alias Kalia, and Sanjay Kashyap, were apprehended.
Police recovered a DSLR camera, electronic items, Rs 4,250 in cash, and two laptops and a mobile phone linked to a separate October 12 burglary at a private investigation agency in Sector 14.
Section 317(2) of the BNS was added to the case following the recoveries.
The accused, who drive autorickshaws, allegedly used their daily routes to scout locked homes before returning at night to commit thefts, police said. htc...
