LUCKNOW, July 15 -- Thieves looted around Rs 18 lakh in cash and valuables from the locked home of a senior doctor in Lucknow's Eldeco Colony, consumed chips and cold drinks during the act, and fled using the doctor's car, police said on Monday. The burglary took place under the limits of the PGI police station while the doctor and his wife were on a trip to Europe. The incident occurred at the residence of Dr Jaishankar Shukla, who had left for Europe on June 20 with his wife, Purnima. Their son is currently studying in Kanpur, leaving the house unoccupied. According to police, the intruders broke open the main door around midnight on Friday. CCTV footage showed them spending over two hours inside the house, appearing unhurried as they snacked and searched the premises. The incident came to light on Sunday night when the couple returned from their trip. Neighbours had alerted Dr Shukla about broken locks, prompting him to rush home.htc...
