Bundelkhand region could be rich in minerals: Experts at GSI workshop
LUCKNOW, April 21 -- The Geological Survey of India (GSI) organised a one day workshop in Lucknow on Monday.
According to the press release, the discussion focused on the mineral potential of the Bundelkhand region. Experts, scientists and government officials took part in the workshop, where they discussed what kind of minerals could be found in Bundelkhand and how to locate them.
Officials said minerals like lithium, rare earth elements and other "critical minerals" are very important today. They are used in mobile phones, batteries, electric vehicles, medical equipment and many industries. Because of this, finding these minerals within India has become a top priority.
What is special about Bundelkhand
Scientists explained that Bundelkhand is an old geological region and may have hidden deposits of minerals like gold, iron, copper and rare elements.
Earlier studies have shown signs of these minerals, but no major commercial mining has started yet. Experts said the main challenge is that many minerals may be buried deep underground and cannot be found easily.
They stressed the need for better technology, deeper drilling and combining different scientific methods to locate these hidden resources....
