BTech student found dead in hostel room
PRAYAGRAJ, May 23 -- A first year B.Tech (computer science) student at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT), allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself inside his hostel room on Thursday afternoon. When students came to know, they immediately contacted the hostel warden, who then informed the police.
The police from Shivkuti police station arrived at the hostel and took the necessary steps to investigate the matter and sent the body for post-mortem examination.
However, the reason for suicide could not be ascertained as no suicide note was found. The police have informed the relatives of the deceased student living in Chhattisgarh, said police.
The deceased from a village in Janjgir-Champa district, Chhattisgarh lived in room number 101 of Swami Vivekananda hostel at MNNIT. He didn't attend his second-semester exam on Thursday. After the exam finished, his classmates went to his room around 12 noon. When they found the door locked from the inside, they called his name but got no reply. The students then informed the hostel warden, Naresh Kumar. When the warden looked through the ventilator, he saw the student hanging from a nylon rope and immediately called the police.
On receiving information, SHO of Shivkuti police station Rukmpal Singh arrived at the hostel premises along with forensic team.
According to additional DCP (City), Abhijeet Kumar, a BTech student of MNNIT had committed suicide by hanging himself inside the hostel room....
