BSP leader's son attacked in fatal assault
PRAYAGRAJ, Dec. 15 -- Amit Kushwaha, son of former Kaushambi District Panchayat chairman and BSP leader Rajesh Kushwaha, was allegedly attacked on Saturday night in Preetamnagar while attending a friend's birthday party. Some youths reportedly assaulted him following an argument, and a government security guard is also alleged to have been involved. The accused are said to be members of a prominent local family. Dhoomanganj police reached the scene, but no complaint has been filed by the injured party yet.
Police said Amit was attacked with iron rods and bricks, sustaining serious head injuries and profuse bleeding. The incident triggered a stampede at the party. He was taken to a private hospital by his family. Rumors suggest a compromise between the parties due to political pressure. SHO Rajesh Upadhyay stated that legal action will follow once a formal complaint is filed.
A 56-year-old farmer from Bahorikpur village under Maheshganj police station in Pratapgarh was found injured and unconscious near his fields three days after going missing. He died at a private hospital two days later. His family has accused neighbors of kidnapping and assaulting him over a land dispute.
Chandra Pal had left home on the morning of December 9 to water his crops. When he did not return, the family searched for him. On December 12, he was found in critical condition in bushes near his field and rushed to a hospital, where he died on December 13. His son Sandeep Pal lodged a complaint alleging that neighbors attacked his father. Police have sent the body for postmortem. The family attempted to block the Kunda-Jethwara road in protest, but SHO Radheshyam and his team intervened. The body was later cremated.
Panic ensued in Meethepur Sayara village under Saini police station late Saturday night when a diesel tanker caught fire in its silencer. Quick action by the driver prevented a major tragedy.
The tanker, carrying diesel from Kanpur to a private petrol pump in Tewan, caught fire around 10 pm. The driver stopped the vehicle on the roadside and used the onboard fire extinguisher to douse the flames, aided by villagers who threw soil on the fire. The blaze was controlled within a minute, preventing potential disaster. Saini SHO Dharmendra Singh praised the driver and villagers for their prompt response....
