Kanpur, Oct. 25 -- Three people were booked for allegedly abetting the suicide of a 14-year-old boy, who was subjected to brutal humiliation and torture after an argument over a dog in Unnao, police said. One of the three men has been identified as Vishambhar Tripathi. The events, which have sparked outrage in Madaukheda village of Unnao, began on October 17. The minor was returning home when a dog tied outside Tripathi's house in a neighbouring village barked at him. The boy allegedly hit the animal, which forced Tripathi to confront him. A verbal spat ensued, after which Ritik returned home, said the FIR. According to the boy's mother, the situation escalated the next day. Krishna Dubey, an associate of Tripathi, arrived at their home with others and took Ritik to Tripathi's residence. There, the accused and his companions allegedly subjected the teenager to severe physical and mental torture. The family alleged that Tripathi forced the boy to lick his feet, made him drink the water used to wash them, and even gave him electric shocks. The entire ordeal was purportedly recorded on a mobile phone. After being released, Ritik, deeply traumatised by the humiliation, consumed a poisonous substance on October 19. He was first admitted to the district hospital and later referred to a higher medical facility as his condition deteriorated. However, the family took him to a private hospital. On the evening of October 20, while being transported to a hospital in Kanpur, Ritik succumbed to his injuries en route. When the teenager's body reached the village, anger erupted among residents and family members, who gathered in large numbers. Police personnel were deployed to control the situation. The family has also questioned the police's inaction, asking why no steps were taken between October 17 and 20 despite the ongoing harassment. Deepak Yadav, the circle officer of Unnao city, confirmed the sequence of events. "A case has been registered; the persons named in the FIR have been charged with abetting the boy's suicide. Efforts are underway to track down the accused," he said.htc...
