Book fair on freedom fighters, thinkers begins
Lucknow, Oct. 5 -- Another book fair with a difference began outside the (NR) Charbagh Railway Station on Thursday. The book fair is dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi and one can find books related to freedom fighters, rational thinkers among others under one roof. It is organised by Sarvodaya Sahitya and the All India Sarvodaya Prachar Prasar Trust.
The fair was inaugurated by deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak and BJP city president Anand Dwivedi.
It will remain open from 10 am to 10 pm every day till October 15, said organiser Neeraj Arora.
"Books related to the life of rational thinkers like Gandhi, Vivekanand, Vinoba Bhave, Tolstoy and socialists like Lohia, J P along with classics of Shakespeare, Rowling and Sudha Murthy; one can find books from across the genres at the book fair," said Arora.
It was no less than a surprise for passengers travelling by trains to get a world of books open to them in the form of a fair.
A farmer from Basti, Parasnath Chaudhary (37), who visited the city to consult a neuro physician at the KGMU, was happy to find books that could fit his budget. "I love reading but at times books are expensive. This was not the case here, I bought a couple of books related to Lohia at inexpensive rates," he said.
Vinod Kumar (24) and Ritik Chaurasia (24) who were waiting for Ganga Satluj Express visited the fair to find some good books for their leisure.
"I have been hunting for some books related to child psychology and found several," said Kumar.
Ramchandra Tiwari (71) from Rudauli said he has benefited from the fair several times. During some of his visits he had even found books costing Rs 20 or 30. "I proudly own a collection of 3,000 books," he said....
