PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 12 -- The body of an 18-year-old high school student was found hanging from a tree on Sunday morning in Udaishahpur village under the Aaspur Devsara police station limits of Pratapgarh district. The deceased, a resident of a village in Maharajganj, Jaunpur, was living at his maternal uncle's house and studying in Class 10. He had returned home on Saturday after appearing in his pre-board examination, police said citing kin. According to police, the body was found hanging from a tree in nearby Dihwa forest, about 400 metres from the house. On receiving information, police reached the spot, took the body down, and sent it for a postmortem. A mobile phone was recovered from the deceased. Family members have submitted a written complaint indicating the possibility of suicide. SHO of Aaspur Devsara police station Vijendra Singh said further action would be taken after receiving postmortem report. In a case of alleged cheating, a man from Daranagar in Kaushambi district reportedly defrauded his cousins of Rs.2.25 lakh under the pretext of sending them abroad for work. The incident took place in Kamangalpur village, which falls under the jurisdiction of Saini police station. A complaint has been lodged, and an investigation is underway, officials said. According to the complaint, Sudama Devi, a resident of Kamangalpur and wife of Gyan Singh, claimed that her son Arjun and her nephew Ajay were seeking job opportunities after completing their studies. During this time, they came into contact with Jitendra Kumar, son of Sharda Prasad, from Daranagar near Karda Dham. Jitendra allegedly promised to send them, who are distant cousins, to Saudi Arabia for employment. Between March 2 and March 23, 2022, the accused reportedly collected Rs.2.25 lakh from the victims in multiple installments. Station house officer Dharmendra Singh of Saini police station said, "A case has been registered under the appropriate sections, and an investigation is underway.
