Body of missing 8-year-old girl found in flour container in tenant's room in Agra
Agra, March 27 -- The body of an eight-year-old girl, who had gone missing since March 24 night from Tajganj police station area of Agra, was found in a flour container in a room rented to a tenant in her house on Wednesday night. A case has been registered against the accused tenant who is absconding.
The post mortem report has suggested shock and ante mortem injuries as cause of death,. Not ruling out rape completely, police have preserved the slide.
"A case has been registered against four named accused, including Sunil Kumar (40), the tenant who is absconding. Other named accused are his relatives. Teams have been constituted for the early arrest of the accused," said deputy commissioner of police (DCP) for Agra City, Syed Ali Abbas on Thursday. "The reason for death in the post mortem report is shock and haemorrhage caused due to ante mortem injuries. There is a cut mark on the neck of the deceased. Rape has not been confirmed but cannot be ruled out completely at this stage. Thus the slide has been preserved for further analysis. We are yet to assign a motive behind the killing," said the DCP.
"Information was received on Tuesday night (March 24) at Tajganj police station of Agra about a missing 8-year-old girl who had moved out of the house in the afternoon. A case was registered and a search was lodged by the police. On Wednesday night, the body of the girl was found in a portion rented out to tenant Sunil Kumar," added the DCP.
"The body was sent for the post mortem examination which was conducted in the night. All aspects of the case are being looked into and a hunt has been lodged to trace the accused Sunil Kumar who worked elsewhere and lived here as a tenant," said the DCP.
Sunil Kumar used to reside on the first floor of the rented portion along with his mother who had moved away on Tuesday. The accused had even joined the search for the missing girl along with her family and had gone to the police station with them.
The accused slipped away on Wednesday when police began the locality. CCTV footage made available had last shown the girl entering the lane, thus the search was confined to the locality. There are many footwear manufacturing units in the area and thus the police enquired about the staff employed.
The police was informed late about a tenant residing in the house after which the lock of his room was broken on Wednesday and the police found the body of the girl in a flour container....
