VARANASI, Dec. 18 -- A 33-year-old man who worked as assistant manager at a bank, was found hanging in a hotel room in Robertsganj late Tuesday night under mysterious circumstances. The deceased man was scheduled to get married on December 28. A police officer said that preliminary investigations suggest it to be a case of suicide. The deceased was a resident of Dalmandi Govindpura in Varanasi and he was posted in the district. He had come to Sonbhadra on Monday for some work related to the bank. During this time, he visited the branch in Parasi in the Kotwali area to complete necessary tasks and discussed opening an account at the Degree College campus. He also went to the Robertsganj branch, where he met the manager and other staff. He was supposed to oversee the work at the Robertsganj branch on Tuesday. During his visit, he was staying at a hotel in the Civil Lines area of Robertsganj. Breakfast was delivered to his room on Tuesday morning. When no report was received from him at the divisional office by evening, a search was initiated. The investigation revealed that he had not left his room after 12noon. When there was no response despite repeated calls late in the evening, the Kotwali police were informed. In the presence of Kotwali station house officer Madhav Singh, the door was broken down late at night, and the manager's body was found hanging from the ceiling fan with a black muffler. On receiving the information, circle officer city Randhir Mishra reached the spot and gathered information from hotel staff.
