Lucknow, April 29 -- The students of Bhartendu Natya Academy (BNA) staged the play Rangbhoomi, based on a story by renowned writer Premchand, at the Kala Mandapam Auditorium of Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya on Monday. Directed by Dimpy Mishra and adapted for the stage by Surendra Sharma, the play is set during the colonial era and explores themes such as social injustice, the plight of the oppressed, and the socio-political complexities of Indian society under British rule. It will also be performed again on Tuesday at 6:30 pm. At the heart of the story is Soordas, portrayed by Shailesh Pal a blind, impoverished man whose journey through a world of inequality, morality, and resilience forms the emotional core of the production. Other prominent characters included Thakurdeen (Akash Kumar), Tahir Ali (Shahanshah Alam), and Jagadhar (Bharat Azad). The performance drew a full house and concluded to a standing ovation, reflecting the audience's deep appreciation for the students' compelling portrayal and the powerful message of the play....
