VARANASI, July 20 -- Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW) reached an important milestone on Saturday by dedicating its 2500th electric locomotive to the nation. The event was led by BLW's general manager, Naresh Pal Singh. Rajesh Kumar, public relations officer of BLW, said this is a proud moment for the BLW team and a big step towards a self-reliant India. On the same day, 44 members of the National Press Party visited BLW under the leadership of Dilip Kumar, executive director of information and publicity. General manager Singh welcomed the press team. The aim of the visit was to show the progress, innovation, and local manufacturing work being done at BLW. The visitors were first shown a PowerPoint presentation in the hall of fame at the BLW administration building. After the presentation, the press team toured the BLW workshop. They saw how electric locomotives are made and learned more about the production process. A special ceremony was held to mark the flagging off of the 2500th electric locomotive. Singh did the honours along with members of BLW's workforce - Fitter Anita Devi, assistant Shruti Srivastava, senior section engineer Md Nizamuddin, and MCM Krishna Kumar....
