New Delhi, Dec. 11 -- With the enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls entering its final 24 hours, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday directed Chief Electoral Officers in all 12 states and Union Territories where the revision is underway to immediately share booth-wise lists of electors marked as Absent, Shifted, or Dead/Duplicate (ASD) with Booth Level Agents (BLAs).
The Commission said nearly five lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will hold booth-wise meetings with over 1.2million BLAs before the draft rolls are published. During these meetings, BLOs will hand over ASD lists so that political parties and local stakeholders can verify voters who could not be contacted despite multiple visits.
The ECI said the exercise is meant to ensure that all eligible electors are included and that any errors flagged can be corrected before the draft rolls are frozen....
