PRAYAGRAJ, May 16 -- The blood-soaked body of a two-and-a-half-year-old child, who had come to attend a programme marking a family member's death anniversary, was found late Wednesday night near a pond in Rajapur Kadrau village under Nawabganj police station limits. The family has alleged murder. The child had gone missing during the event and after receiving information, police reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem. According to reports, Manoj Patel, a resident of Rajapur Kadrau, had organised a ceremony at his old house in the middle of the village to mark the first death anniversary of his uncle. While relatives and children had gathered at a newly constructed house about 200 meters from the old house, Manoj's two-and-a-half-year-old son, Yuvraj, went missing in the evening. No immediate search was made during the event. However, around 9 pm, some villagers went near a pond located about 50 meters from the new house and discovered Yuvraj's blood-soaked body. As news spread, a crowd of villagers gathered at the spot. Upon seeing a visible head wound on the child, the family alleged foul play. On receiving the information, SHO Nawabganj Santosh Singh, CO Kunda Amarnath Gupta, and ASP (West) Sanjay Rai reached the site. After speaking to the family and villagers, police sent the body for autopsy. Yuvraj was the only brother to three sisters. SHO Santosh Singh confirmed a visible injury on the child's forehead and said, "Body has been sent for postmortem. Action will be taken based on report." htc...
