Jaipur, Nov. 28 -- A 28-year-old teacher assigned as an assistant to the booth level officer (BLO) in Madhorajpura subdivision in Jaipur died on Wednesday afternoon when she was mowed down by a tractor allegedly engaged in the illegal transport of gravel, police said on Thursday. According to Chander Bhan, station house officer at the Madhorajpura police station, the victim was identified as Foranta Chaudhary, a government school teacher in Chaksu. She was appointed as the BLO's assistant earlier this month, said the SHO. "On Wednesday, she was on her way to Dabich Gurcharan village for enumeration work. He added that a case was registered against them under section 106(2) (causing death by rash or negligent driving) of BNS. The victim's body was sent for post-mortem examination and her family was informed, he said, adding that the probe was underway. On Thursday morning, locals blocked a state highway in Madhorajpura and staged a sit-in protest demanding a compensation of Rs.5,000,000 for the victim's family, and immediate action against bajri (gravel) mafias in the area, officials said. "We spoke to the protestors and convinced them to withdraw the protest. We have assured them of suitable compensation. The education department will look into the matter. Police have been told to increase the number of night check posts in the area to curb illegal transport," said Rajesh Meena, Madhorajpura SDM....
