BJP targets Congress, pitches ViksitBharat-G RAM G Act
Meerut, Jan. 12 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday launched a sharp attack on the Indian National Congress while projecting the Viksit Bharat-G RAM G Act as a major step towards strengthening rural employment and empowering labourers. The party held a press conference at SGM Garden here as part of its Viksit Bharat-G RAM G public awareness campaign. Addressing the media, Uttar Pradesh Jal Shakti Minister and senior BJP leader Swatantra Dev Singh said the soul of India resides in its villages and accused the Congress of neglecting rural workers during its tenure.
Citing MGNREGA figures, Singh said the NDA government had spent Rs.8.53 lakh crore on the scheme compared to Rs.2.13 lakh crore during Congress-led governments.
He said the new Act guarantees 125 days of work per rural family, ensures weekly wage payments, removes waiting periods and provides additional employment days for tribal workers.
BJP leaders, including Meerut MP Arun Govil and Rajya Sabha MP Laxmikant Vajpai, present at the press conference, said the Viksit Bharat-G Ram G Act reflects the party's commitment to building a developed India by focusing on villages and marginalised sections. They alleged that while the Congress failed to deliver meaningful reforms for labourers, the NDA government has prioritised employment generation, transparency and social dignity....
