Patna, Nov. 16 -- In a major action soon after achieving a resounding victory in Bihar, the state BJP on Saturday suspended the former union minister R K Singh and BJP MLC Ashok Agarwal from the party for their anti-party activities. This action has been taken to maintain discipline within the organization, said the official letter clarifying that this action was necessary due to their continued controversial and cross-party rhetoric. Both the leaders have been asked to clarify their stand within a week. This action has come at a time when the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has won a huge majority in Bihar, but the party had to suffer losses in many seats due to internal strife and rebel candidates. According to BJP sources, this action against Singh, a former BJP MP from Ara, has been taken after receiving complaints of his involvement in anti-party activities during and around the election campaign. The bureaucrat-turned-politician is accused of working against the party candidates during the elections and making some public statements which were against the interests of the alliance and the party. Singh had been making serious allegations against the NDA leadership, candidates and the Bihar government for several days. He not only questioned the credentials of some of the alliance candidates but also appealed to the people from public platforms that "it is better to drown in a small puddle of water than to vote for such people." This statement provoked sharp reactions both within and outside the BJP. A controversy erupted when Singh openly called deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, JD-U leader Anant Singh and RJD's Suraj Bhan Singh "murder accused". The former union energy minister also accused the Nitish government of a power scam worth Rs.62,000 crore. Agarwal's son had contested from Katihar on a VIP ticket....
