LUCKNOW, July 28 -- A theft of cash and valuables worth several lakhs was reported from the government residence of Shravasti BJP MLA Ram Feran Pandey in Lucknow's Hazratganj area, prompting police to register an first information report (FIR) on Saturday. The prime suspect, identified as the legislator's domestic help Rinku Pankalta, is currently absconding, said police officials. As per the complaint lodged at Hazratganj police station, the MLA resides in a government-allotted duplex flat at the ministerial housing complex on 3 Tilak Marg in Dalibagh. The accused, a native of Shravasti, had been employed as a cook at the residence for the past five years. The theft allegedly took place between July 20 and 21, when Rinku fled with around Rs 2.5 lakh in cash, clothes, and other valuable items.
