Dehradun, Aug. 22 -- Police in Pauri Garhwal district on Thursday arrested Himanshu Chamoli, state secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of ruling BJP, hours after a 35-year-old man died allegedly by suicide, accusing him of pressure in a financial dispute. According to police, the deceased purportedly uploaded a video on social media around 4 am in which he claimed he was taking the drastic step because of harassment linked to a Rs.35 lakh property-related monetary dispute with Chamoli. Around two hours later, he was found dead inside his car at a secluded spot. Pauri Garhwal SSP Lokeshwar Singh said preliminary investigation revealed the man used a 12-bore firearm to shoot himself. "He fired a single shot which pierced his neck and lodged in the car's roof. Police reached the spot along with forensic experts to collect evidence," Singh said. Based on the video in which the 35-year-old named Chamoli, police located the accused and arrested him, the SSP said.
