BJP's 'Smriti Abhiyan' to mark 300th birth anniv of Ahilyabai Holkar
LUCKNOW, May 18 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organise 'Smriti Abhiyan' to mark 300th birth anniversary of Ahilyabai Holkar-the 18th century queen of Indore known for her administration.
"The Smriti Abhiyan will be organised from May 21 to May 31. The primary objective is to highlight Rani Ahilyabai Holkar's inspiring life, ideals and her contributions to society, especially in the areas of women's empowerment, social justice and nation-building," state Bharatiya Janata Party vice president Tryambak Tripathi told media persons on Saturday.
"Various events and activities are planned during this period. Run for women's empowerment will be organised in colleges," he added.
"Seminars and discussions will be held at the district level to deliberate on Rani Ahilyabai's life and contributions," Tripathi said.
Ghats on banks of river Gomti will be decorated and 'Aarti' will also be organised.
Also present on the occasion, district BJP president Anand Dwivedi said exhibitions on Ahilyabai's life and vision and her contribution to Indian culture will also be held.
Conferences on women's empowerment and Rani Ahilyabai's role in it will also be organised, he added.
As per Dwivedi, cultural events, including plays, will also be held as part of the event....
