LUCKNOW, Aug. 22 -- Several Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders paid tribute to former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Kalyan Singh on his fourth death anniversary on Thursday. Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak offered floral tributes to the late CM's statue in front of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation in Lalbagh. Mayor Sushma Kharakwal, MLA Neeraj Bora and MLC Mukesh Sharma also paid tribute to Singh. "Babuji (Kalyan Singh) gave the supreme sacrifice by renouncing power for the construction of Shri Ram temple. Babuji's struggle, personality, political and organisational skills will always inspire us," Pathak said on the occasion. "UP will always remember his role and sacrifice for the construction of Ram temple. Babuji was not only a leader of UP but of the entire country. He was a Great leader and hero of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement," he added. District BJP president Anand Dwivedi said: "Babuji was an extraordinary personality and always remained firm on his values and ideals. With his administrative efficiency, he gave a new direction to the politics of the country and the state."
