PRAYAGRAJ, June 24 -- During a late-night vehicle check on Sunday, Ghoorpur police apprehended five members of a bike theft gang and recovered six stolen motorcycles along with five high-end mobile phones. ACP Kaundhiara, Vivek Yadav, stated that the gang had stolen a motorcycle belonging to Chandi Lal, a resident of Amiliya village, just two days earlier. A case was registered in the matter, and the police had been actively searching for the culprits. During a routine checking drive conducted by Ghoorpur station house officer (SHO) Dinesh Singh on Sunday night, five people were spotted behaving suspiciously near the railway crossing. They were apprehended and brought to the police station for questioning. Based on the information provided by them, six motorcycles of various brands and five Android phones were recovered. The arrested people have been identified as Bachcha, son of Bhim; Mamma, son of Biru; Raj, son of Sunil; Roshan Lal, son of Kes Kumar; and Aryan, son of Vijay-all residents of Semrakalbana village located behind the Ghoorpur police station. According to Singh, the accused belong to a nomadic Banjara community and had been residing in Semra Kalbana village for the past several years. A case of theft has been registered against them under relevant sections, and all five have been sent to jail. A passenger traveling from Pune to Deendayal Upadhyay Junction fell off a moving train near Shankargarh on Sunday night after losing balance while standing at the compartment gate. Upon receiving the information, GRP personnel promptly arranged to shift the critically injured passenger to SRN Hospital by ambulance.
