Biharganj Market shooting: Rewards raised for fugitives
PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 14 -- In the aftermath of the Biharganj market shooting on June 17 in Pratapgarh, all eight fugitive accused listed as gangsters now face a reward of Rs.50,000 each. The Prayagraj inspector general (IG), Ajay Kumar Mishra, recently doubled the reward from the initial Rs.25,000 announced by superintendent of police (SP) Deepak Bhuker, officials confirmed.
The city police, led by SHO of Nagar Kotwali police station Subhash Yadav, filed gangster charges against 16 people. This group includes history-sheeter Massan Ali from Amamau Kakraha, who is accused of shooting and injuring two businessman cousins along with his associates in Biharganj market.
While Massan Ali and seven others remain in jail, eight other accused including Irshad, Hasan Ali alias Sonu, Riyaz, Naseeb, Rizwan, Sahban, Niyaz, and Irfan, had been granted bail. They subsequently went absconding after provisions of the Gangsters Act were invoked against all accused in the case.
Following the increase in the reward amount to Rs.50,000, both the district police and the Special Task Force (STF) have intensified efforts to track down the fugitives. htc...
