Bid to dig up teen's grave for 'occult practices'; probe on
LUCKNOW, Oct. 20 -- Panic gripped Bakhtiyar Nagar village under Malihabad police station limits late Friday night after unidentified individuals allegedly tried to dig up the grave of a teenage student reportedly for occult practices. The family of the deceased stated in a complaint that some people entered the ancestral graveyard around 12:30am and began digging the grave.
Deepu Sahu, the deceased's cousin, alleged that he saw a few men with spades. As he raised an alarm, the accused fled the scene. A team from Malihabad police station reached the spot and conducted an inspection. "An investigation is underway. CCTV footage from the area is being scanned to identify the accused," Malihabad SHO Surendra Singh Bhati said. The grave belonged to a 15-year-old Class 11 student, who died in 2015 due to a snakebite.
The Kakori police on Saturday arrested a man posing as a 'CRPF inspector' for allegedly duping people with promises of recruitment into the paramilitary force. DCP (West) Vishwajeet Srivastava said the accused, identified as Alok Kumar, a resident of Bodepur village under Khandasa police station in Ayodhya district, was caught near the Rewari Toll Plaza late on Saturday night. Police said a complaint was lodged by Ram Kumar alias Bablu, a resident of Rewari, who alleged that Alok Kumar took money from him on the pretext of getting his daughter recruited into the CRPF. Acting on the complaint, the Kakori police team nabbed Alok Kumar around 11 pm on Saturday. During interrogation, he admitted to impersonating a 'CRPF inspector', sending his photographs in uniform to gain victims' trust, and demanding money for recruitment.
The Gosaiganj police cracked a house burglary case within hours of it being reported, arresting six people on Sunday, including the main suspect and the receivers of the stolen goods. DCP (Southern) Nipun Agarwal (IPS) stated that the complainant Abhishek Shukla, a resident of Gumti No. 5, Gosaiganj, lodged an FIR on October 18 after his locked house was burgled the previous night.
Thieves broke into a locked house in Sai City, IIM Road, under Madiaon police station, and escaped with cash and jewellery worth nearly Rs.15 lakh. The burglary occurred while the family was away in their village. Complainant Harshit said he returned on October 18 to find locks broken and valuables missing.
